I've never really celebrated Halloween because it was not that popular in the Philippines when I was growing up. However, instead of trick-or-treaters,back home, there were kids going from one house to the other around the block singing a particular song, sort of like Christmas Caroling. They would come in groups. Usually around 4-6 kids per group and they start singing "Narito na kami sa inyong harapan, taga rito lamang..." . After the song, you give them money. So I guess that is what Halloween is for us. The next day Todos Los Santos is celebrated. We go to the cemetery to light candles for our dearly departed. Then we celebrate. I distinctly remember forming wax balls from the candles that were melted. Whoever had the biggest ball, had the biggest ego.
